A double fatal accident involving a car and semi last night on I-75 near Bluffton closed both directions of I-75 for two and a half hours.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the car's driver, 25-year-old Benjamin Wallen of Findlay and a back seat passenger, 30-year-old Amelia Adams, also of Findlay, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Both were ejected from the vehicle. Wallen was wearing a seatbelt but Adams was not. A front seat passenger, a 14-year-old male, was injured and taken to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment.
Troopers report around 6:15 Sunday night, Wallen was heading south on the interstate when he drove off the left side of the road and crossed the median, hitting a northbound semi. The impact caused the semi to cross the median into southbound lanes striking several trees and a right of way fence. The semi driver was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
