Students at Unity Elementary school had surprise guests Wednesday morning.

Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by the school to give all the students a gift before they begin their holiday break. The gifts were from the Unity staff and all 225 students received one. They included a bag with a blanket, a sweatshirt, a stuffed animal, crayons, a coloring book, and hygiene products. The staff member says they wanted to show the students how much they care about them and wanted to help put them in the holiday spirit.

Unity School Social Worker Sarah Zeller says, "It's important for these kids because we want them to be excited about Christmas and we want them to see how much we care about them and how special they are and even though that we have a nice long break, we will be thinking about them over the break. We just want our kids to be able to have what they need but also have special gifts as well and we count on a lot of donations from businesses and churches to help us be able to do this."

Besides getting a visit from Santa, the students got to decorate cookies and drink hot chocolate.

This is the fourth year Unity has participated in this.
