UNOH students begin move-in ahead of fall semester

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The University of Northwestern Ohio is preparing for a new academic year as more than 400 students move onto campus.

Students in the College of Applied Technologies are moving into their dorms Thursday and Friday, getting settled before the fall semester begins.

UNOH expects about 3,000 students from 41 states and 23 countries to attend this fall, with about one-third living on campus.

With an influx of students and families around town this weekend, housing officials say move-in can be an adjustment for everyone and are asking the community to show some grace.

“Be patient. They’re kids. It’s their first time away from home. They’re going to want to spread their wings a little bit. Just bear with us and be patient with them. They’re kids,” said Marlo Duffy, housing director for the University of Northwestern Ohio.

UNOH staff encourage students to get out of their dorms, meet their roommates and get involved on campus.

The university will host several events to help students get connected, including Pizza Friday at Racers Station on Friday night and Summerfest next Wednesday.

Welcome Week is also set for Sept. 13-17.
