UPDATE: Suspect arrested in noon Faurot Park shooting that injured one

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Police Department arrested a suspect in a shooting at a local park Friday afternoon.

Verbal argument leads to a shooting at Faurot Park

Around noon on Friday, police responded to a report of a shooting in the parking lot at Cole Street and North Shore Drive in Faurot Park. 

According to the Lima Police Department, a group of family and friends had gathered at the park, and a verbal argument broke out. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Anthonio "Tony" Briggs of Lima, allegedly pulled out a gun and began pointing it at others, then shot 20-year-old De'Marion Gibson, also of Lima, in the leg.

Gibson was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and Briggs was found on scene with the weapon still in his possession. Briggs was taken into custody after speaking with LPD detectives. He is currently being held at the Allen County Jail for suspicion of felonious assault.

This case remains under investigation.
