The Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce is putting a spotlight on the small businesses in the area.
The Chamber held their 13th annual Small Business Awards Luncheon at the Willow Bend Country Club. They recognized businesses for their charity, entrepreneurial spirit and for their service to the community. The event is an important one for the Chamber because it allows them to highlight the benefit that small local business has in the community.
"Your neighbors own the business, your neighbors go into the business," said Chamber Pres. and CEO Mark Verbille. "There's large stores and people go there for different reasons for conveniences but it's always good to go into the local businesses and support them because if you don't they won't be around."
Around 30 small businesses were represented at the event.
