Van Wert Sheriff Office executes search warrant for apartment on Lincoln Highway

VAN WERT, OH (WLIO) - One man is in custody after a drug bust in Van Wert County on Wednesday.

Van Wert deputies served a search warrant at an apartment in the 10000 block of Lincoln Highway. They arrested 38-year-old Kyle Greishaber on the charge of possession of meth. He is currently in the Van Wert County Jail. Another woman in the home was released from the scene. During the search, they seized meth, prescription pills, unknown white powder, multiple cell phones, and cash. Additional charges could be filed in the future.

Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach says if Van Wert residents have information on drug activity to contact his office or submit a tip on their website.


February 21, 2024 Press Release from the Van Wert County Sheriff's Office: Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach announced that the Sheriff’s Office executed a drug search warrant on Wednesday February 21, 2024.  Sheriff Riggenbach stated that deputies have been investigating reported drug activity and were able to obtain a search warrant for 10886 Lincoln Highway Apt.1, Van Wert.

Sheriff Riggenbach said that two people were found in the apartment when the search warrant was executed. 

A male subject, Kyle W. Greishaber, age 38, of Van Wert was charged with possession of Methamphetamine, a Felony of the 3rd degree.  Greishaber was transported to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility where he is being held until an arraignment in Van Wert Municipal Court.

A female that was found in the apartment was released from the scene.

Items found in the home that were seized for evidentiary purposes:

  1. A moderate amount of suspected methamphetamine
  2. A small amount of suspected prescription medication
  3. A small amount of an unknown white powder
  4. Hypodermic needles
  5. Drug Paraphernalia
  6. Multiple Cell Phones
  7. Cash

The investigation into the reported drug activity at the apartment is continuing. Sheriff Riggenbach indicated additional charges could be filed in the future.

Sheriff Riggenbach advised that a nuisance abatement letter will be sent to the property owner to make him/her aware of what occurred on this property. The purpose of the nuisance abatement letter is to make the property owner aware of alleged illegal activity occurring within the owner’s property. Sheriff Riggenbach stated the nuisance abatement letter directs property owners to take action in the hope s of abating any future illegal activity. Sheriff Riggenbach said the law does allow for the seizure of property, if the property owner knowingly permits illegal activity to continue within their property.
