VAN WERT, OH (WLIO) - The Lieutenant Governor sees firsthand where grant money will go toward educating the next generation of the workforce.
Jon Husted stopped by Vantage Career Center in Van Wert, which has been chosen to receive over one million dollars in grants through the career technical construction program. The money will go towards the expansion of construction equipment technology, as well as funding their criminal justice program. Husted toured the areas where new facilities will be built to help teach students, as well as connected with instructors and department heads on where the growing market is headed, and how they can help train the next generation to fill those roles.
"With these grants, we are going to allow the physical space for these schools to expand. They can expand their offerings, and that is going to help us educate 3,700 more students a year on top of the already record enrollment that we have. So it's an exciting time. Career Centers are the best value in education more parents, families, and students should take advantage of it," stated Jon Husted, Ohio Lieutenant Governor.
The expansion at Vantage Career Center will help serve an additional 57 additional students.
