Manufacturing is the county's biggest industry, has the most employers, and has made the biggest investment. The Workforce Partnership was created a little over a year ago to promote the opportunities that manufacturing has to offer. The organization does this by educating students about the industry and guiding people past the barriers that some face to employment. They recently got $100,000 from Ohio's Office of Workforce Transformation, which will continue to help set up the new organization's website and get promotional materials, plus continue their efforts to promote manufacturing in Putnam County schools.

"We are going to continue on and use some of that money for some additional work advance training. We are really going to target those seniors that are graduating that really don't have a plan. They are not going to college, they really don't have any skills or background and really don't know what they want to do to help them get off to a good start," says Karl Schimmoeller, director of Workforce Partnership of Putnam County. "And then we want to continue to develop our activities at the K through 12 schools, so the student really understand what's available."
