WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — Allen East grabbed their sixth win of the season behind 49-39 non-conference clash versus Wapakoneta.
The first quarter saw momentum swing early as Wapakoneta’s Sawyer Szelagowski converted an old-fashioned three-point play to briefly give the Redskins the lead. Allen East responded moments later when Rylie Jordan kicked the ball out to Harper Friesner, whose bucket put the Mustangs back on top. The Mustangs led 8-7 at the end of the opening quarter.
Allen East began to create separation in the second quarter with Jordan taking over offensively. The senior pulled up and knocked down a mid-range jumper to push the Mustangs’ lead to five.
Wapakoneta worked to stay within striking distance, as senior Audrey Welsch connected from beyond the arc to cut the deficit back to one possession.
However, Allen East answered once again from long range. Brooklyn Crumrine drilled a three-pointer to halt any Redskins momentum and keep the Mustangs firmly in control.
Allen East maintained its advantage down the stretch, closing out the 10-point victory and securing the 49-39 win over Wapakoneta.
