The Allen County Veterans Services Commission held their first Veterans’ Picnic at the Allen County Farm Park. Besides having food, there were activities for the veterans’ families like bouncy houses and clowns for the kids and live music and activities for the adults. The picnic is just an extension of the commission's mission to help the men and women that have served.
“We do provide assistance for veterans filing for their benefits, for VA benefits. We also provide temporary emergency financial assistance,” says Tamara Wilson, Ex. Dir. Allen County Veterans Services Commission. “But we really wanted today to be a relaxation day. No pressure, nothing, just come and enjoy yourself with your families.”
Wilson says the commission is looking forward to bringing this event back next year.
