Allen Lima Leadership explores changing college experience at Ohio State Lima

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Allen Lima Leadership group took its show on the road Friday to the Ohio State University at Lima. As part of their education session, participants heard from a panel of instructors and students about the changing face of the college experience.

The panel emphasized that college life is no longer just about attending classes and studying for exams. Students now have more opportunities to join clubs, engage in community volunteer work, participate in research, and take part in internships.

They are also seeing an increase in online courses and a wider range of majors and minors available at the Lima campus.

“As well as professional writing minor, and that affords students the opportunity to get some hands on experience through their internship, whether that's writing press releases or working with local organizations to really hone in on and develop their communication skills, which is a top soft skill in demand by employers,” said Rachel Richardson, Career Development Manager at Ohio State Lima.

The education session also included tours of the OSU Lima campus, followed by a visit to Apollo Career Center, and concluded with a superintendents' panel.
