Democratic Lt. Gov. Candidate David Pepper makes campaign stop in Lima

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Democratic lieutenant governor candidate David Pepper stopped in Lima Tuesday as part of the campaign trail, joining local union members to criticize the Republican gubernatorial ticket.

Pepper, who is running alongside Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton, spoke with union members about why they believe Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is not the right choice for Ohio. They alleged that Ramaswamy has called Ohio workers "lazy and mediocre" and argued that his proposed policies would not benefit most Ohioans.

“He's proposing things that if you look closely, will benefit people like him doing very well in life, but the average Ohioan will end up paying more, more high higher sales tax, a potentially higher income tax, depending on how you make up for what he's giving away. So, I think it's a pretty clear choice. So, if you want someone who's going to go to bat every single day for everyday Ohioans to reduce their costs, it's Dr. Acton,” says David Pepper, Democratic Lt. Gov. Candidate.

Pepper said his running mate, Amy Acton, better understands the challenges facing Ohio residents.

“Dr. Acton, on the other hand, has overcome the same challenges a lot of Ohioans face. She understands those challenges. She knows people are working hard and she's ready to go to bat for them, not only so they make more and they do better when they work hard, but so costs are less,” adds Pepper.

Ohio voters will decide who will serve as the state's next governor in the Nov. 4 general election.
