LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — What began as a small sandblasting company in 1975 has grown into an international above-ground tank contractor with deep roots in the Lima community.

International Tank Service, now in its fourth generation of family ownership, celebrated 50 years of business in Lima this week. The company has expanded to four locations within the city, serving clients across 41 states and two foreign countries.

With a half-century of success behind them, company leaders say they’re proud to continue their legacy in Lima and beyond.

“We're approaching 1,000 fuel tanks erected as we speak,” said Everett "Butch" Kirk, president of International Tank. “So it's been a great run. We're a family business. I'm third generation. My children are fourth generation and glad to be part of Lima, Ohio.”

As part of its celebration, International Tank Service presented Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith with a $25,000 check to support the city’s community aquatic park endowment fund, underscoring the company’s commitment to giving back. Mayor Smith praised the company’s longstanding presence and contribution to the local economy.

“It’s essential and vital for local businesses like International Tank Service to be here in our city,” Smith said. “Oftentimes, we get our first jobs at local businesses because of the relationships that are built, but also the return on investment and community development that comes back into our community.”
