LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — After 13 years of hard work, Lima City School seniors were recognized Friday during their convocation ceremony ahead of Saturday’s graduation.

Lima City Schools honor Class of 2025 with record scholarships

This year’s graduating class earned a record-breaking $4.2 million in scholarship awards.

Wearing caps and gowns, the Class of 2025 gathered to receive scholarships from local organizations, businesses, families, and other supporters. This year’s graduating class earned a record-breaking $4.2 million in scholarship awards — the most in school history — to support their college and career goals.

“And so to be able to give them these scholarships and help with the costs of higher education — it’s just an amazing feeling to be able to do this for our students and our families,” said Lima City Schools Superintendent Jill Ackerman. “They saw so many generous people from our community here today offering these scholarships, and our message to them is that it’s their turn. Now they’re soon going to be alumni of Lima Senior High, to go out there in the world, do great things, and always remember to not only come back, but to also give back.”

Lima Senior High School’s graduation ceremony will take place Saturday at 11:30 a.m., where 194 students will move their tassels and officially become the Class of 2025.
