LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima Senior's DECA students were celebrating everybody Thursday afternoon. Their "Joy Project" began several years ago as a way to raise awareness of Down syndrome and has since evolved to include all disabilities.

To recognize World Down Syndrome Day, which is on Friday, they invited everyone to join them for some bingo. Snacks were provided by Lima Senior's culinary program, and plenty of prizes were available for the winners.

"It's really a great experience for my students to be able to plan, host, and implement these events. Just seeing the smiles on their faces and people that have come every year, they really look forward to our Bingo Night. We see familiar faces; they recognize us. They're super happy to be here. It really is a really great ability for us to give back and celebrate everybody in everybody's unique ways," said Chrissy Hood, the DECA advisor at Lima Senior.
