LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Fog didn’t stop the Lima City Schools from holding its districtwide staff in-service day.
The district’s food services employees heard from nationally recognized speaker Bart Christian about the importance of positive communication.
Christian told the staff that communication is defined not by what someone says, but by the response it generates. He encouraged employees to believe in their work and understand the critical role they play in students’ lives.
“[They are] the guardians of not only the nutrition of the children that they serve, but also their well-being,” said Christian, president of Southwest Training Systems Inc. “Because for many of these kids, this is the best meal they get in the day. This is maybe one of the few smiling faces they see in the day, and [I] get them to understand the impact they have by just doing what they do every day, with love and with care.”
Christian is also the author of the “Simple Solutions” book series.
