WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) - With the Kentucky Derby weekend underway, a Wapakoneta business brought the community together for a meaningful cause.
Inspired by the “Pink Out” traditions of the Kentucky Oaks, TipBacks Wine and Craft Beer hosted a bra creation show to raise funds for breast cancer patients across Auglaize, Mercer, Darke, and Van Wert counties.
The event encouraged creativity and generosity, with participants designing bras around various themes. Community members then donated to vote for their favorites, with the bra receiving the most donations declared the winner. All proceeds from the event went to the Pink Anchor Foundation, which provides grant funding to breast cancer patients and their families.
“As a part of the Kentucky Derby weekend, and actually at the Kentucky Oaks, they have a breast cancer awareness benefit, they have a survivor parade, so we are just kind of taking a nod from the Kentucky Derby and just bringing it to Wapakoneta,” said Stephanie Kennedy, owner of TipBacks Wine and Craft Beer.
Kennedy emphasized that the funds raised will directly support local individuals and families facing breast cancer, adding that every donation, no matter the size, can make a difference.
