LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It was a special moment for a local businessman as the arch was placed on top of his dream project in downtown Lima.
John Heaphy is no stranger to downtown Lima and has been working on his "Spring and Main District" concept for more than 4 years. This morning the arch was raised and placed into position on the entrance to a new era for downtown Lima. Dozens of city, county, and state officials along with family and friends were on hand as Heaphy explained why he is vested in this community.
"It's my hometown. I was born here, we've spent our childhood here. Our family came here as immigrants in the early 1900s. Generations have been here and we have a commitment. I have a commitment to this town and I'd like to do what I can to help everyone else who's working so hard to make it a great place," said John Heaphy, owner of Good Food Inc.
Work continues on the inside of his new location with an opening hopefully sometime in May 2024. Phase two of Spring and Main will start in the spring with the City of Lima doing the streetscape from Main Street to Central Avenue.
