Bluffton’s GROB Systems highlights STEM careers during open house

BLUFFTON, Ohio (WLIO) – You may have seen the signs for GROB Systems while driving down I-75 through Bluffton, but do you know what they do there? People had the chance to find out during a public open house at the facility on Saturday.

GROB manufactures machines used by automotive, aeronautics, and tool-and-die companies. Members of GROB’s apprenticeship program also organized STEM-related activities for kids to test their skills and potentially spark an interest in working at the Bluffton manufacturer in the future.

GROB aims to remove the stigma surrounding manufacturing and by spotlighting the company’s day-to-day operations.

“So, it's been great being able to talk to a bunch of young people in here and just raise interest in STEM. Because even if they don't wind up with us, being able to work into the idea of the science, the math, the engineering, everything else that goes along with STEM, it's a great deal in raising an interest level of these kids and just getting them to have another idea,” says Mark Reed, GROB training manager.

Reed says they welcome schools and groups that want to take a tour of their facility and learn more about what they do.
