LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Ohio State Lima and other members of the community are bringing a classic story to the stage.
This week, the college's department of theater is presenting the fantasy comedy play "Peter and the Starcatcher." The performers include cast and crew members from OSU Lima, students from Lima Senior High School, and alumni of both schools. The play takes a different perspective on the story of Peter Pan, focusing on his life long before he met Wendy.
"This is pretty much just showing how Peter really became Peter Pan and his journey from being an orphan into becoming Peter Pan," said Cheyenne Welch, a junior majoring in theater at Ohio State Lima.
The open casting call is good for both younger actors looking to learn and giving the show a more unique cast.
"It just gives everyone a chance to be a part of something, and theater is inclusive in itself. So it easily brings together the community and different people from the community to make a great project," Joanna Walt, the show's guest director and a teacher for Lima City Schools, added.
You can still see the show either Friday or Saturday night at 7 p.m.
