LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It was a successful workforce development program pre-COVID and it's now making its way back into the Lima area.

The "Exploring" program is through the Black Swamp Area Council of Boy Scouts. It works to match up young adults with businesses to see what type of career appeals to them. It gives them a chance to network and get hands-on experience as the program is their first step in identifying career possibilities.

"The really great thing is you do not need to have to be a scout to join. This is open to any middle school or high school student. It just depends on the partnership that we have. Most of our partners do focus on those high schoolers but we're always looking for new opportunities and new partners in the community that will take on those students," explained Alexander Patterson, Exploring executive for the Black Swamp Area Council.

Patterson says the student is not tied to just one partnership, they want them to explore and find that perfect fit. You can find out more about the exploring program at their website at https://www.blackswampbsa.org/.
