Identities released in fatal U.S. 30 crash

We now know the identities of the two people killed in a fiery crash in Allen County Tuesday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 36-year-old Jason Patterson and a passenger, 30-year-old Jeremy Shults, both of Van Wert, died at the scene.

Patterson was driving his Dodge Dakota eastbound on U.S. 30 near the 5th Street exit, when he lost control, drove through the median and into the westbound lanes, running into a semi driven by 79-year-old William Wolfe of Colorado. The truck catching on fire.

Wolfe and his passenger had just minor injuries. The tanker was hauling sulfuric acid. Officials say there was no leak. Everyone was wearing their seatbelts. Drugs and alcohol were not factors and the crash remains under investigation.
