The Lima City School Board met and recognized attendance campaign partners.
The “Every Day, On Time: School Today, Success Tomorrow” campaign that kicked off at the beginning of the school year would not have been possible without corporate sponsors who donated to the cause. The school could not spend federal dollars on incentives like gift cards, and food, which the sponsors helped with. With the campaign, they have not seen much of a difference in attendance but have seen a significant difference in the amount of tardiness during the school year.
Jill Ackerman, Lima City Schools Superintendent said, “It’s really good for the entire community to come together and support initiatives like that because they are employers, and they also see the need for people to learn to be at school or at the job every day and on time.”
Ackerman said that they would need to continue this work to see long-term change.
