Choir members at Lima Senior High School are doing some good to help them head to the Windy City.

Two ensembles with the choir have been invited to sing in a tour in Chicago next year, and they need your help to get there. They are collecting pairs of shoes to send over to small business partners in developing countries. The choir will receive funds based on the total weight of shoes that they are able to collect. It's a win-win for helping out the people in need, as well as a good opportunity for the choir to perform out of their comfort zone.

"If it helps the kids that out there that really need shoes, instead of just throwing them away or let them go to waste, this really helps," said Tennise Pough, a senior choir member at Lima Senior. "This is really a big deal - people might not think it is, but it really is to us, because it’s actually something that lets us out of our box, we’re going out into the world, and letting people see what we can actually do and what we can accomplish as a team."

The choir will be accepting new or gently-used shoes through the month of September at the Met (306 North Main Street), Westgate Entertainment Center (721 North Cable Road), and in the main office of Lima Senior High School.

The choir's goal is to collect 5,000 pairs of shoes.
