LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima Senior choir students performed on a different stage than they might be used to Sunday afternoon.
Sacred Music for Sacred Spaces brings the choir out to a different church in the community this year. Their performance was made up of Christian songs all composed by women, some dating back to medieval times, all the way up to work written by a composer born in 2003. The annual show helps the choir members grow as performers by introducing them to new musical styles and types of venues.
"It's really a great opportunity for students to see the different spaces that we have here in Lima. Many of them have never been in a church before, so this is a great opportunity for them to see what it's like to be in a church, see that it's not scary, but also to sing music in a space that was created for just this kind of music," said Amy Phillips, the choir director for Lima Senior High School.
Lima Senior will also have their fall orchestra concert in the school auditorium at 7pm on Tuesday.
