ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A 41-year-old Lima resident has been sentenced to jail for a stabbing that occurred in May of this year.
41-year-old Shauntae Bryant was sentenced to 5 to 7 and a half years in prison after being found guilty on a charge of felonious assault. Back on May 2nd, the Lima Police Department responded to 773 Richie Avenue and found 47-year-old Latonya Glenn suffering from a stab wound to her upper right thigh. Officers learned the altercation started between Glenn and Bryant and the defendant was arrested shortly after. Glenn was the foster parent for Bryant's children. The victim spoke in court today followed by the defendant.
"I have had a lot of physical and mental distress, myself and the children. I have a leg injury that I have to deal with for the rest of my life. It takes away a lot of things for me and the children. The children are stressing with this. They were presently there when this case has happened, they are now in counseling," stated Latonya Glenn, victim.
"I hate to say it, alcohol has a lot to do with a lot of my decisions. Not just now but for a long time. And I'm truly sorry. And I do realize that it's been me a majority of the time, and I've drawn a wedge between myself and my kids and all Ms. Glenn tried to do was help me. And I deeply, I accept the punishment that you give me and I am truly, truly sorry," stated Shauntae Bryant, defendant.
Bryant will receive 164 days of credit for time served.
