Midwest Electric helping different organizations in area counties with some needed funding.
Through the co-op’s Community Connection Fund, 13 area organizations split $13,500 during this round of funding. Some of the people getting a check on Friday included the Allen County Mounted Posse, The Children's Hunger Alliance, The New Knoxville Fire Department, and Voices of Prosperity. Nearly 90% of the Midwest members participate in the Community Connections Program, which has given away over $1.2 million since it began.
“So, the Community Connection Fund is a program that gives our members the option to round up their electric bill each month to the next whole dollar. Those dollars add up to over $50,000 a year that Midwest Electric is able to donate to local nonprofit organizations and other charitable causes throughout Northwest Ohio,” commented Joel Johns, Midwest Electric Co-op.
The community connection fund hands out checks to different organizations four times a year.
