Lima City Council begins the process Monday evening to bring a new hotel to town.
City council will be voting on an ordinance to okay a 50% property tax abatement for 12 years for Sulai Hospitality for the construction of a new hotel. The 83 room hotel will be located on Leonard Avenue south of Bellefontaine, caddy-corner from the Country Inn & Suites. Sulai will be spending 7.4 million dollars on the project that would create eight full time and 10 part-time jobs. Dave Stratton of the Allen Economic Development Group said this is just the beginning of a long process.
"It's a very early stage, it's really the first step, there would be a need for a second reading as well and as we move forward then there will be many steps that need to take place but this is the first step in regards to an advancement of this project," explained Dave Stratton, Director of Business Development for Allen Economic Development Group
Construction would be expected to begin April 2019 and completed by July 2020.
