October 29, 2024, Press Release from the Delphos Police Department: On 10-13-2024 a female reported that her vehicle was vandalized while parked in Delphos. The female showed officers damage consistent with the vehicle being shot several times by a BB gun.

On 10-13-2024 officers were sent to the 900 block of Moening St, to speak with a female who reported that she saw three younger males walk through her yard and go into her garage. The female stated that the three males left when she confronted them.

On 10-13-2024 officers were made aware of a male, possibly intoxicated, at Stadium Park. Officers located the male leaving the park operating a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted due to an equipment violation. During the investigation of the traffic stop, officers found probable cause to arrest the driver, 26-year-old Tony Mendez of Delphos, for OVI, No Driver’s License, Tinted Windows Violation and Public Indecency.

On 10-14-2024 employees at a business in the 900 block of Spencerville Rd, called to report that an ex-employee had just been at the business after being criminally trespassed.

On 10-14-2024 officers spoke with a female in the 100 block of King St, who reported that an item was stolen from her property.

On 10-14-2024 officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Holland Ave. A female there told officers that she allowed two other people to stay with her and they stole items from her residence.

On 10-15-2024 officers were sent to the 300 block of S. Main St, to investigate a two-vehicle crash. Officers arrived and found that a box truck a struck a vehicle, parked legally on S. Main St. The driver of the box truck was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

On 10-15-2024 officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Skinner St, for a Domestic Disturbance. Officers arrived and met with two males. After investigating the incident, officers found probable cause to arrest 34-year-old Kyle Jacks of Delphos for Domestic Violence.

On 10-16-2024 officers were sent to the 800 block of Skinner St, for a dispute between a male and a female. Officers found that the two were having a verbal altercation and nothing physical occurred.

On 10-17-2024 officers were asked to perform a well being check on a female in the 700 block of Bank. St. The female’s mother stated that she has not had contact with her in over a year.

On 10-17-2024 officers were made aware of an active warrant for 43-year-old Travis Mercer, of Delphos. Mercer was located and taken into custody.

On 10-18-2024 officers were sent to the 100 block of E. 12th St, after receiving a call stating someone was trying to break into a residence. Officers located the male walking away from a residence. After investigating it was determined that the male was known by the resident but was not welcome at this time.

On 10-18-2024 a female called requesting officer’s assistance for a potential child custody disagreement. The female stated that she is the custodial parent of her child and wished to receive the child back from his father. The child was turned over without issue.

On 10-18-2024 officers were made aware of a male in the area of Wayne and Erie streets driving erratically. Officers arrived in the area and attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle after identifying who the driver was. The vehicle fled but was not pursued due to safety concerns. The vehicle was seen later that evening/early morning, and a second traffic stop was attempted. The driver was pursued for a distance until the pursuit was terminated. A warrant was issued for the driver’s arrest at a later time.

On 10-19-2024 officers spoke with a female at a business in the 300 block of W. 2nd St, who reported being threatened by a patron. The employee requested that the male be criminally trespassed from the property.

On 10-19-2024 officers were sent to the 600 block of W. 7th St, for a loud music complaint.

On 10-19-2024 officer attempted to serve an active warrant on a male who had fled from a traffic stop on 10-18-2024. The male was seen getting into a vehicle and officers attempted a traffic stop for the third time, but the male fled. No pursuit was initiated. A short time later officers were advised that the suspect had crashed into a tree near Metbliss and W. 8th St. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment and will be served a warrant at a later date.

On 10-20-2024 officers were advised of a male, who was possibly intoxicated, lying near E. 2nd St. Officers located the intoxicated male and found that he had a ride in route to pick him up.

On 10-20-2024 officers were sent to the area of W. 2nd and N. Canal streets to investigate three small children wandering around unattended. Officers arrived and spoke with the children who were able to show officers where they lived. Officers then spoke with a male at the residence who stated that the children got out of the residence while he was sleeping. A report was taken and forwarded to Children’s Services for review.

On 10-21-2024 officers were sent to the 400 block of Maple St, for a Domestic Disturbance. While investigating the incident it was decided that a male at the residence would be transported to the hospital, by officers, for a mental evaluation.

On 10-21-2024 officers spoke with a male who stated that his child’s mother refused to come pick up their son. A dispute ensued over who should have the child at which point the male stated he would like to surrender his child to the police department. A short time later the child’s mother did pick up her son.

On 10-22-2024 officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Suthoff St, for a Domestic Disturbance. Officers met with a male and a female at the residence who were in a verbal altercation. Nothing physical occurred and the female just wanted to leave the residence for the night.

On 10-22-2024 a female came to the police department to report that she believes her juvenile daughter is having an inappropriate relationship with an adult male who lives in Michigan.

On 10-22-2024 officers were asked to assist the Sheriff’s Office at a business on Elida Rd. where it was reported that subjects were taking items from the rear of the business. Officers located the subjects a short time later in possession of the items. An employee at the business just wished for the items to be returned.

On 10-23-2024 officers were sent to a business in the 1900 block of E. 5th St, for an unwanted guest complaint. Officers arrived and found that a male and female had been at the business the night before and were asked to leave due to stealing items from inside. The male and female came back to the store but had left after employees called the police department.

On 10-23-2024 officers spoke with a female in the 700 block of Skinner St, who reported damage done to her doorknobs. The female believed someone attempted to enter her residence.

On 10-24-2024 a male called the police department to file a Criminal Damage complaint. The male stated that someone vandalized an item on his property in the 700 block of W. 3rd St.

On 10-25-2024 officers were sent to the area of W. Cleveland and S. Clay streets for a male and female involved in a dispute along the roadway.

On 10-25-2024 officers were asked to assist in locating a possible intoxicated driver on Lincoln Highway near Jarvis Rd. Officers arrived in the area and located the vehicle, stopped along the roadway, still in drive. The driver, appearing to be highly intoxicated, was asked to shut the vehicle off and step out for his safety. Allen County Deputies and the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived and took over the scene.

On 10-26-2024 officers were sent to the 700 block of W. 2nd St, for a Domestic Disturbance. Officers arrived and found a male walking away from the residence. After speaking with the male and a female in the residence, it was determined that nothing physical had occurred.

On 10-26-2024 officers were sent to the 200 block of W. Clime St, for a male having mental issues, threatening to harm himself. Officers arrived and located the male who was then transported to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

On 10-26-2024 officers were sent to the 700 block of W. 3rd St, for a female that was attempting to harm herself. The female was located and transported to the hospital by Delphos EMS.

On 10-26-2024 officers were sent to the 600 block of N. Main St, for a Menacing report. Officers spoke with a female at the residence who stated that she has been receiving threatening text messages. The female believed that a co-worker who was recently fired was retaliating against her.
