Maple Festival

On Sat., March 2, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will host the MAPLE FESTIVAL at MCLEAN TEDDY BEAR PARK (2004 Dixie Hwy., Lima, OH).

This is a great opportunity to learn and experience the process of making maple syrup in Ohio at our sugar bush! Interact with interpreters, take a self guided educational hike, enjoy local food trucks, take home some goodies, and more! No registration necessary. Spring into Fitness: Jogging with Johnny

On Mon., March 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer SPRING INTO FITNESS: JOGGING WITH JOHNNY at the OTTAWA METRO PARK – WYANDOT SHELTER (2632 Ada Rd., Lima, OH).

Jumpstart your joints and spring into fitness with a Johnny Appleseed accoutabili-buddy! Join a Naturalist for a warm-up walk and a few easy laps around Ottawa Metro Park. All ages and abilities are welcome in their fitness journey, whether you consider yourself a seed, a sapling, or cider! Choose a pace that is comfortable for you. Woodcarving: Potato Faces

On Mon., March 4, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer WOODCARVING: POTATO FACES at the MCELROY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER at (2355 Ada Rd., Lima, OH).

Try your hand at carving faces in sweet potatoes with assistance from the Lima Area Woodcarvers. This relatively simple project produces some unique and fascinating results! This is a project that can be enjoyed by all skill levels, beginners included. This program is limited to 10 participants, ages 13 and up (under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). Nature Pals: Goodness Snakes

The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer NATURE PALS: GOODNESS SNAKES at the MCELROY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER at (2355 Ada Rd., Lima, OH) on:

Thurs., March 7, at 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.

Fri., March, 8, at 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.

Sat., March 9, 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.

What makes snakes different from other reptiles? Is a snake’s skin slimy or dry? Children ages 3-5 and their adult companion are invited to stay curious as we learn about the exciting world of snakes. Dress for a hike in the woods.
