5/9/22 UPDATE:Â A Lima man is in critical condition after being shot last night in a home on Lakewood.
Lima Police report that 59-year-old Dennis Hempker of Lima was shot in the kitchen of 2322 Lakewood Ave. He was transported to St. Rita's and then life-flighted to a Columbus hospital. Lima Police report that the 9-1-1 call for a shooting came in around 8:30 pm.
Detectives say Hempker went into the home without permission and a fight with the resident led to them shooting Hempker. The shooting remains under investigation.
First Reported 5/8/22: The Lima Police officer investigate a shooting that happened on 2322 Lakewood Ave. One victim was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita's, where he was taken to surgery for his injuries. It is unknown how severe the injuries are. Officers were going door to door talking to neighbors to see if they saw anything related to the incident. We will update this story when more information is released.
