UPDATE from Christmas at Fountain Park Facebook page: In the best interest and safety of our community, the Van Wert Service Club, Optimist Club of Van Wert, and the Van Wert Parks Department have decided to *CANCEL* the opening night celebration, due to the intense wind and how it has effected our festive displays.

Your News Now at Eleven - 11/26/19: Service clubs in Van Wert spent the afternoon preparing for the opening day of Christmas at Fountain Park. Members of the Van Wert Service Club and the optimist clubs hammered dozens of stakes into the ground in hopes of better securing the inflatables and Christmas trees in the park. This is all to prepare for the windy weather expected on Wednesday.

On Wednesday(11/27/19), families will have the opportunity to check out the inflatable reindeer, Santa, snowmen and hundreds more. This is the first year of Christmas at Fountain Park. The past five years it was held in Smiley Park. Organizers enjoy hosting this event every year because of the joy it brings families and children.

“Kids love it,” said Breanna Sudduth, Christmas at Fountain Park Committee Member. “Santa’s here and there’s characters walking around and it’s just awesome to see their faces light up when we flip the switch and everything lights and blows up.”

Christmas at Fountain Park will start tomorrow(11/27/19) night at 6 p.m. and will end at 9 p.m. You can check out the lights from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. from Thanksgiving until the day after Christmas.
