11th Annual Derry Glenn Easter Egg Hunt

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - There was an Easter bunny sighting at Hover Park in Lima on Friday.

The 11th annual Derry Glenn Easter Egg Hunt kicked off as kids were out of school for Good Friday and got to look for hidden Easter eggs all over the park. Along with getting eggs full of candy, councilman Glenn hid golden eggs across the park, and those who found them got the cost of starting a savings account covered at Superior Credit Union. Glenn wants this to help promote responsibility and financial literacy in children at a young age. After 11 years, the Derry Glenn Easter Egg Hunt provides a fun way to bring the community together in the spirit of Easter.

"It's very good, and it's a good cause, though. You find a golden egg, you get to make a bank account, and my goal is to make sure the kids continue working and teaching the kids how to do their own banking system. Learn about that. So this is exciting for me, and to see all the people that came out on a nice day, it's kind of cool, but we're excited about it. It feels real good to feed into the meaning of Easter. Everybody together, everybody caring and happy, and it excites me so much that we all come together in our community. It's a win-win situation for us to see us all together on a nice, beautiful day like this. In the beautiful park that we have here in Lima, everybody can enjoy themselves." commented Lima 6th ward city councilman, Derry Glenn.

There were 5 golden eggs containing savings bonds for the kids, and Easter baskets and bookbags were handed out to the first 50 kids to arrive at the Easter egg hunt.
