LIMA, OH (WLIO) - After a successful fundraiser this fall, ABATE of Ohio is out buying presents for kids in need.
The money raised from over 400 participants in September's motorcycle toy run was divided between 7 regions, and on Wednesday night the shoppers for Allen County headed out to get gifts to help 80 families this holiday.
Around a dozen volunteers were given lists of each child's interests to pick out just the right presents. For organizers, the hours of shopping and gift wrapping are worth it to help out kids who might not have gotten anything for Christmas.
"This is our 38th year and it doesn't get any easier, and life doesn't get any easier. More and more people are out of work. Some people can pay the bills, put food on the table, all of that stuff, but when it comes to Christmas, everything's tight. So that's where we step in," said Dana Frost, the director of ABATE of Ohio Region 3.
ABATE hosts their annual toy run fundraiser every year on the last Sunday of September.
