LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Allen County Head Start has a waiting list of students but needs teachers to get them into the classroom. Administrators say that they have 60 students on that waiting list and need teachers to educate them.

Head Start is a free program for low-income families that works with children from birth to 5 years of age. It prepares them both emotionally and intellectually to succeed in school and in life. The program had to close some classrooms last year due to a lack of educators and is hoping to get four teachers and six co-teachers.

"We're looking for teachers that have specifically degrees in early childhood and also with CDA credentials. Child development credentials," explained Christine Magoto, director of internal operations.
