LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Hundreds of people enjoyed a hot meal Saturday while helping ensure others in the community receive one throughout the year.
Our Daily Bread hosted a barbecue fundraiser at Lima Community Church, where more than 300 chicken or rib meals were picked up. Guests also had the chance to grab desserts to go along with their meals. The organization does not receive government assistance and relies on community support and events like this fundraiser to continue serving hot meals to those in need.
“These funds are going directly back into the kitchen so we can get all the things we need to help all of our wonderful people that come in," says Sameria Stapleton, Manager at Our Daily Bread.
“We spend maybe $2,500 on food throughout the year. Everything else is donated and and that's with 30,000 meals a year. So, and the trays are full. When they come through the line, they get a full tray. So yeah, it's just amazing what this community does," says Randy Kimpel, Director of Our Daily Bread.
Those wishing to support Our Daily Bread can donate online at www.odbread.org or donations can be dropped off at their location at 125 South Central Avenue, Lima during business hours Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
