LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Construction on Central Avenue in downtown Lima is approximately 20% complete, according to city officials.
Drainage work has been installed in the six major intersections included in the project, and crews have now shifted focus to the south end. Work is currently underway to prepare the roadbed between Elm and Market streets. Curb installation and asphalt paving will follow. Sidewalk construction is also in progress.

“One of the things we're also trying to do is maintain pedestrian access,” said Ian Kohli, City of Lima engineer. “So right now, the old sidewalks are torn up, but where the sidewalks are going to be, you'll find compacted stone that offers a stable surface to be able to walk to those locations.”
Access to businesses along Central Avenue is being maintained throughout the project. Several parking lots are available, and on-street parking is permitted along Spring Street.
Kohli encourages residents to check with individual businesses and the City of Lima’s social media accounts for the latest updates on parking and construction.
