LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Area business leaders heard firsthand about what is happening in Allen County during the Lima Rotary Club's annual State of the County address.
Commissioners discussed how county government operates and ongoing capital projects, including the county's budget, which is funded by the annual casino payment from the state, approximately $1.2 million. One major project is the construction of a new county administration building at the corner of North and Main streets, which is expected to be occupied by the summer of 2026.
Also discussed were plans for the location of the Allen County Child Enforcement Agency and the status of Memorial Hall.

Commissioners discussed how county government operates and ongoing capital projects.
"Our child support agency, we're looking to do something there as well. One of the areas, whether to build new or to refurbish, an opportunity came up in the Cook Tower. We're exploring that opportunity now to see if it's a potential match for that building," said Brian Winegardner, Allen County Commissioner.
"Memorial Hall is one that always comes up as well. It's a building that has some history. Definitely has history for our community, and unfortunately, it's just not in a condition for the public to be in there right now. But there is a group that is looking at that structure with our economic development folks. We don't have a lot of information because that is being done separate from us. The goal is to hear from them sometime in the future about potential plans that could be for that structure," said Cory Noonan, Allen County Commissioner.
Once the administration building and child support projects are complete, renovations on the existing courthouse will be finished, bringing all county courts under one roof.
