LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Sexual assault is a difficult topic, but advocates say it is an issue that must be addressed.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Crime Victim Services is working to raise awareness about the resources available to survivors. In 2024, the organization served 179 survivors through its rape crisis and anti-human trafficking program. Advocates emphasize the importance of seeking assistance, offering a range of services to those affected.

“They can get just a therapy referral, and that’s okay,” said Brittany Reyes, survivor advocate with Crime Victim Services. “Some people need all of the services, like shelter, food, counseling, case management. We offer a variety of things, so we can provide as little or as much as needed.”
For those in need, Crime Victim Services operates a 24/7 crisis line and can be reached at 419-222-8666. Assistance is also available through web chat on their website.
To show support and raise awareness, the organization is encouraging the community to wear teal on Tuesday, April 1.
