LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The art scene in our area will be getting a boost thanks to an anonymous donation.
ArtSpace/Lima has announced that they have acquired funds to purchase the building next to their location at 59 Town Square, where the old Vivace Restaurant was located. The space will be combined with ArtSpace in order to improve what they can offer to the community and to further grow creativity in the region. The building will be secured and repaired over the next few months.
"I'm really happy that I live in a community that has an art center," said Sally Windle, Executive Director of ArtSpace/Lima. "There's not a lot of communities that have what we have. Even bigger cities. So we are excited that we can offer more to more people, but also be a part of the community that is redeveloping, that's growing, that's looking beautiful and inspiring."
The expansion is expected to take three years to complete, as ArtSpace needs time to look at electrical work as well as the overall structure. This will also allow them to know what exactly they can use the space for.
"We'd like to have a new gallery that houses our permanent collection, we would like to have more classroom space, we'd like to offer some new opportunities that we aren't really aware of that will come as we are doing the work," said Windle.
