Dozens of students proudly crossing the stage to receive their diploma's Wednesday night in Allen County.
The annual Aspire-Able/GED graduation ceremony, held at Apollo Career Center. Also donning a cap and gown will be Adult Diploma Program graduates. This new initiative involved adults earn a high school diploma and an industry credential in an in-demand career at the same time. Program coordinators said its their hope the grads continue on with their education and down a career path that will transform their lives.
"This is the biggest graduation we've ever had, around 80 student coming tonight," said Aspire-Able/GED assistant coordinator, Jodi Wireman. "It's a huge stepping stone for them, we're so excited to see them open the chapter in the book. The best art about it is getting to see them overcome so many hurdles in their life. A lot of students have had a lot of barriers and to see them succeed has been a wonderful thing."
Jeff Sprague, Allen Economic Development Director, was the keynote speaker. Last week, 43 adult licensed practical nursing, medical assistant and medical insurance specialist students walked across the stage at the Academy of Medical Careers graduation ceremony.
