LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima Rotarians getting a refresher course in civics as the president of the Ohio Association for Court Administration is one of their own.
Berlin Carroll speaking about the role the association plays in making sure courts throughout Ohio ensure independent judiciary through professional development and high-quality education. Ohio is one of a few states that offers an in-state judicial college through the Ohio Supreme Court for court managers. Areas covered are leadership, court performance, accountability, and budgeting. Carroll says it's important that people understand the importance of an independent judiciary.
"One of the key purposes of the courts is to protect the people from the arbitrary use of governmental power. Having an independent co-equal judicial branch of government is very important," commented Berlin Carroll, Ohio Association.
The three independent and co-equal branches of the United States government are executive, legislative, and judicial.
