LIMA, OH (WLIO) - We are officially past Thanksgiving, and that means Christmas is just right around the corner!

With Thanksgiving and Christmas so close to each other this year, Blooms had to start a lot earlier this year.
Many people are now picking out that perfect Christmas tree, so we stopped by Blooms on Shawnee Road to see how things are going so far. The Shawnee Road garden center says their tree supply has not been impacted by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina nor by the drought across the northeastern United States, as the Frasier fir trees they sell are from eastern Ohio. With Thanksgiving and Christmas so close to each other this year, Blooms had to start a lot earlier this year. Even though hauling the trees to Lima is hard work, Blooms tell us the Christmas joy is very special.
"These are just a symbol of one of the happiest times of the year, so it's great when people come out, they bring their kids, and, you know, they get to pick out their Christmas tree. It's a very special moment for a family, I think, to bring their tree home, decorate it, get the star on the tree, and the presents... it's just, it's a very special moment, I think," says Gabriel Rutter, a laborer with Blooms.
Rutter also says sales have been strong. He says they sold 30 to 35 trees on their first day with a good day of business this past Wednesday. They will be selling more trees on Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm, and on Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm.
