The hospital hosted the “Light up the night annual tree lighting”, and invited staff, patients and the community to attend. The tree is a symbol of hope, joy, and gratitude for a brighter, healthier future. Local first responders paraded around the hospital carrying Santa along with them, as children were able to meet him and get some candy.

Dr. Dawn McNaughton, Grand Lake Physician Practices, Chief Medical Officer said, “Just social engagement and togetherness is so important and so this is amazing that we can bring people together in a safe environment, outside celebrating the lights of Christmas and the holidays.”

Students at St. Marys Intermediate School even made Christmas cards for the hospital staff.

McNaughton said, “It’s really amazing that kids that are in intermediate school and elementary school find it in their hearts to thank people here in the hospital system that have been taking care of them for this long.”

The Wayne Street United Methodist Church Children’s Choir sang Christmas Carols after the tree lighting.
