The OhioMeansJobs Student Employee of the Month for August is Joe Mosley, a 2024 Bath graduate who is on his way to a successful career at Systems Inc.
ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Our OhioMeansJobs Student Employee of the Month is Joe Mosely, a 2024 Bath graduate who is on his way to a successful career at GROB!
Shortly after graduating from Bath High School, Joe Mosely began as an apprentice at GROB Systems Inc. He has an interest in engineering, and the program helps him learn about a variety of jobs and skills through hands-on practical applications.

"I've always wanted to do it because my dad has told me electrical is a good thing to get into and so is mechanical because they kind of go hand in hand. The first week, we did a loop bending bridge, and it was just bending wires, but it was professional work. And I got a 50 on it; I did not do pretty good, but it helps you learn what 'good' actually is," explained Joe Mosely, an apprentice at GROB Systems Inc.
So far, Joe has shown his supervisors and trainers that he has that desire to work hard to become a knowledgeable, reliable employee. Apprentices aren't expected to come in ready to go, but like Joe, they are ready to invest effort into themselves.

"Something that we look for when we're doing our hiring and going through our process is we're looking for someone who's a cultural fit within our company. Someone who does not have to have the skills starting with us but is willing to learn. And Joe's been very good at taking the instruction that he's been receiving and putting that into his work," said Mark Reed, apprenticeship training supervisor at GROB Systems Inc.
At just 18, Joe has already landed a quality job that has given him the ability to sign the lease on his first apartment. Lessons from his job coach have prepared him to take that step towards financial independence.

"The Lifestyle Budget is something that OhioMeansJobs uses with all the high schoolers. It allows them to go in and select areas of life that are expensive and costly and see what kind of budget fits into the lifestyle that they are hoping to have," explained Cat Neal, a job coach at OhioMeansJobs Allen County.
