LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The annual "Red Kettle Campaign" has just a few days left and unfortunately, the weather is not cooperating.
The Lima Salvation Army has bell ringers scheduled through Christmas Eve to get them to their $125,000 goal. There is always a big push in those final days but with the storm rolling through tonight followed by arctic temperatures, it raises a big question of if they can make it.
"If we keep going the way we're going, we should make our goal, so that's a good thing. But it's really this last push and the weather is not being really kind to us these last few days. So, please be generous and help us out because it's going to be really cold. We don't know even if we're going to be able to put people out maybe on a Saturday, you know. Just really important to finish it up strong," said Paul Downing, operations manager at the Lima Salvation Army.
The funds raised through the red kettles assist with the Salvation Army's programs all year round, not just at Christmas.
