We are in the season of giving and some Ohio State Lima students wanted to thank some local people for giving them the gift of education.
OSU Lima held a reception so students could talk about how the donors' generosity helps them get an education and explore the different opportunities that college can provide. Around a half of a million dollars in scholarships were given out to Ohio State Lima Students. Many of the donors are OSU Alumni and students are grateful that former Buckeyes want to give back to help them succeed.
“The fact that somebody had such a good experience being a Buckeye and knowing that they want to help others like they were once, I think that’s wonderful and that I mean that's not selfless, then I don’t know what that is," said Melissa Martinez, Scholarship Recipient.
“Alumni understand the importance of paying forward and serving their communities. It is part of being a Buckeye and being a Buckeye as an Alum and also giving back to those students and making sure that they become the Buckeye that they are,” said Jim Smith, Pres. and CEO of The Ohio State University Alumni Association.
This past year Ohio State Lima has raised more dollars for scholarship support than in the past 10 years, and they have also established more scholarship endowments in the history of the campus.
