Children with autism and their families were able to have a fun day at the park Sunday afternoon.
The West Central Ohio Autism Community organized the event, offering a quiet area and activities for the families to enjoy. The president of the West Central Ohio Autism Community says that it's often a little difficult for families with members on the autism spectrum to go out, but having other families makes the experience easier.
"Being able to do something in a park setting, where we have other families who can kind of help us with keeping track of our kids and making sure that they're safe, makes it a really helpful day," said Jenn Slechter, president of the West Central Ohio Autism Community. "It also gives a chance to just spend time with other families who have the same experience."
The West Central Ohio Autism Community sponsors meetups for families on a regular basis.
