LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The City of Lima making an investment in the future development of downtown Lima.
The for sale sign on the Riverfront One building on South Main Street can come down. The City of Lima has purchased the building for possible development. It has been vacant for many years and Mayor Sharetta Smith says it could hold several options for the continued revitalization that is happening in the city's center. With its location along the Ottawa River it could also open up more possibilities of improving the river corridor.
"The state and other entities have released significant funding that allows us to apply for to go further with how much more can we clean the Ottawa River, the surrounding real estate around there, and improve the quality of the water for the aquatic life. The next step is if it's possible what recreational opportunities can be achieved along the corridor of the river," said Mayor Sharetta Smith, City of Lima.
Smith says they are currently studying the structural integrity of the structure and exploring the feasibility of what the property can be used for. The purchase price was $200,000 dollars out of the general fund.
