School is out and the summer of fun has begun at the Lima YMCA.
The Summer Day Camp kicked off Monday morning and kids are already enjoying all of the activities the YMCA has for them to do this summer. Each of the eleven weeks of the camp will have a different theme. This week is aloha, next week it's all about superheroes. The program offers the kids to pick their activities they want to do during the day like arts and crafts and play games. They also get the chance to go swimming and take field trips. The program is not only a great way to keep the kids busy this summer but a great relief for their parents.
"It kind of used like a daycare, kind of, where the kids can come and meet new friends, learn teamwork skills, leadership skills here at the Y. And that is what we try and provide for our kids in the community every summer," said Corey Cliffton, Teen Leadership Development Director.
The day camp will run until August 17, 2018.
